Robert Janz: found wood fragments: constructions with thread, glue, paint: some have mobile elements
The Glyphars are made from raw wood fragments I glean from the streets, glued together with thread, string, and paint. I mix echoes from the earliest notations we know of, ancient rock and cave drawings, with a current imagery abstracted from urban street works and building sites.
Our ancestors recorded a world in balance, where humans were one animal kind among others. We now live in vast cities which expand relentlessly consuming the land and its resources. The dominant urban image is of endless building, the city a nonstop construction site. Can we reestablish an effective balance?
